From extravagant designer lehengas and sharara sets to breezy kurta sets,   Ananya Panday’s ethnic collection has it all

Over the course of a year—she only made her Bollywood debut with Student of the Year 2 in 2019—Ananya Panday has quickly climbed best dressed lists thanks to her sartorial choices. A quick look at her style files will prove that the young actor can pull off laid-back off-duty looks, OTT outfits and sophisticated ensembles with equal ease. Look closer, and you’ll note that the same holds true for her traditional choices as well. She’ll wear a breezy cotton kurta to catch a flight on one day, and don a heavily embroidered lehenga to attend a wedding on the next. It’s her discerning eye for intricate detailing that seals the deal. Think detailed threadwork, floral embroidery and mirror work.

Lehengas are a clear favourite with the star. Whether she is attending a Diwali party or a wedding ceremony, Panday never misses a chance to step out in a statement-making number. She often picks pieces , like that pastel baby pink lehenga, which she wore with a barely-there, sleeveless choli, and her bright neon green lehenga. She’s also been spotted in a black lehenga featuring multicoloured thread embroidery at her friends, Isha Biyani and Rahil Shah’s sangeet in Mumbai. Panday loves pastel and neon hues, but she also turns to muted shades now and then—like the beige  lehenga she wore to attend Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Diwali party in 2019.

The casual side of her ethnic wardrobe puts the spotlight on breezy kurtas and sharara sets. Case in point: the yellow and white sharara set she picked for a casual meeting in Mumbai. She was also seen in a neon pink sharara set featuring gota patti work on another occasion. If you’ve been looking for some inspiration to upgrade your Indian wear collection, Panday’s ethnic looks will have you covered.
