Yes, HBO released the first trailer for And Just Like That on 12 November. In addition to offering a first glimpse at the reboot’s new cast members, it also confirms that the series will premiere on 9 December in both the US and UK.

In a move that appears to confirm postmodernist scholars’ belief that time is cyclical rather than linear, John Corbett will reprise for “quite a few” episodes, in spite of the fact that Aidan dated Carrie for less than a year decades ago and is basically an extra from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers who somehow wound up in Manhattan circa the ’90s. I can already hear Carrie’s voiceover: “I couldn’t help but wonder… Should I revive this centuries-old love triangle and leave yet more emotional devastation in my wake in the name of sexual anthropology?”

Devastatingly, it seems that Kim Cattrall has officially declining to return as the fiery PR executive whose voracious libido and pun mania single-handedly made Sex and the City so compelling. HBO executive Casey Bloys even confirmed how Samantha will be written out of the storyline. “Just as in real life, people come into our life, people leave,” he said in an interview with TVLine. “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life… They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.” Although apparently you will still have your old furniture-whittling lovers?
Are there any new characters in the ‘Sex and the City’ reboot?
A number of fresh characters will be introduced in And Just Like That. First up, Grey’s Anatomy’s Sara Ramírez will star as Che, a non-binary stand-up comedian who regularly hosts Carrie on their wildly successful podcast, with Ivan Hernandez appearing as Franklyn, their sound engineer. Also joining Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte’s circle: Sarita Choudhury as a formidably wealthy real estate broker named Seema Patel; Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley, a Park Avenue-based mother who makes documentaries; and Karen Pittman as the high-powered lawyer and Columbia professor Dr Nya Wallace. Oh, and in a stroke of genius casting, Emmy-winner Brenda Vaccaro will be introduced as Mr Big’s long-time secretary Gloria Marquette – God love her. In terms of the younger SATC generation, Niall Cunningham is the grown-up Brady Hobbes, with Cathy Ang and Alexa Swinton as Lily and Rose Goldenblatt, respectively. Dear Evan Hansen’s Isaac Powell will also play George, a Fashion Institute of Technology student, while Cree Cicchino will make her debut as Brady Hobbes’s girlfriend Luisa.
