In my search for nursing friendly tops, I came across a brand called Everly Grey that has the cutest tops and dresses. Sure, you don't need nursing-specific clothes to breastfeed. Most of the time I just wear loose tops or stretchy tees that I can lift up. But many occasions call for a nursing-friendly top or dress. I figure I'll be nursing for a while, so why not treat myself to a few pieces that will help me feel put-together during this season of life? Here are the four pieces I fell in love with and wanted to review in case any of you mamas are looking for similar items to add to your closets...
First up, the palm print dress (shown above), I got the size Small and it fits well (the sizing is similar to Loft, where I'm usually a small or 4). It's a real wrap dress so you can customize the fit on the waist. I wish they'd make the "boob" holes bigger for these dresses because I'm not even that big and I struggle to sort of get the gals out LOL, so I can't imagine what other moms with larger busts must feel like. Sometimes I'm like, who are they designing for?! But, it's functional enough. I'm thinking this will be a great birthday dress for me in July!
Next I ordered this pretty floral dress. The fabric is so soft and I love the print! (Actually all the items are made of super soft rayon/spandex blends.) It's a bit on the shorter side if you're tall (I'm 5'8") but I can wear this with flats or with boots and tights and a cardigan. There are two buttons in front you can undo for easier nursing access.
For tops, I'm in love with this floral one! I'm not sure why but I'm drawn to these feminine vintage florals lately. Anyways I love how easy it is to nurse in this top. And here in Connecticut we get plenty of random chilly days throughout the summer so I'll definitely be able to wear this year-round. Love it with distressed jeans to give it some edge and balance out the florals.
Finally, I decided to keep this cold-shoulder top because the print is so pretty and it will be great for hot summer days. I wish it had more support in the bust area but I also appreciate that there's no elastic or anything tight on the girls LOL. Nobody wants plugged ducts especially in summer! You could wear this with white shorts and wedges for a chic going out look, too.
Finally, a note about pricing - while all these items are, I get that they're not exactly budget-friendly. Wait for a sale. I have to review these items full price because if I wait, they'll be sold out by the time a sale comes around. But Nordstrom always has good sales (like the Half-Yearly Sale going on now) so put this brand on your radar and pounce when the price drops!
